'Language is the house of the truth of Being.'
This was the observation of German philosopher Martin Heidegger in the 1950's.
I'd say he was onto something...
How often do we find ourselves creating ourselves and others in a negative manner?
"I cant manage my drinking"
"I'm not disciplined enough to go to the gym"
"My Partner isn't kind towards me"
"My boss is an idiot, they don't know what they're doing"
If we're walking around and talking about life in this manner, it will be this way forever more...
All these statements are self fulfilling prophecies of how we create our world, how we choose to see things through the lens that we apply, and how we act accordingly.
Take this last statement as an example;
"My boss is an idiot! They don't have a clue what they're up to!"
Imagine if there is something where you really believe you're right, and you need to have a conversation on this.
How would that conversation go if you create them in this manner?
Full of resentment?
Needing to make this person wrong and argumentative?
Treating them with contempt and unkindly?
All very possible...
Now, how would that conversation go if you created them differently?...Lets change this around a little;
"My boss is a person who has a different opinion to me, and they have a lot of good qualities"
Just that simple change of language will enable you to go into a conversation with a very different way of being.
Being more open.
Being curious about their views and why they think what they do.
Being far more kind and pleasant.
Creating much better outcomes as a possibility in every manner.
We are always creating with our language, whether its out loud, or in our thoughts.
When we choose our language consciously and create from that place, our entire world can change.
